With 30 people present, the AGM was well attended. The existing committee were all re-elected back into their offices with the position of Marketing being replaced with an Events co-ordinator. See our Contacts page for the updated Committee. The financial position of the club is sound. The meeting agreed to opt for electronic banking and to move to a computerized accounting system (on a new club laptop with back-ups). Signatories remain as Bruce Titlestad and Sylvia Pikes. Our contact details remain the same. Fees have not increased from last year and are as published on the Home page of our website. Equipment requirements were discussed and reflect the needs of a rapidly growing club. Darren McMormick will determine priorities of equipment acquisitions and his approval will be required for all equipment purchases. We will be significantly expanding our training program with the addition of Field and Clout archery disciplines, initially for our high performace archers that will be competing in the 2010 Nationals. Peter Godwich, Mark Bobowski and Gavin Pikes have been nominated for the State Team. Nola Mitchell heads up a team of archery instructors (currently 3) increasing to 8. Alan Kleidon, Darren McCormick, Stewart Reed, Bruce Titlestad and Jay Wilkins offered to make up the 5 additional instructors. |

Jim Larven advises that following the FITA Congress in Ulsan Korea where the 70m round was approved for Masters Men (Recurve and Compound) and the 60m Round for Masters Female (Recurve and Compound) which will come into force from the 1st April 2010, Masters shooting in FITA Registered Tournaments will now be able to claim FITA Stars. In the past this division and round was not recognised by FITA and they could only claim Australian Stars. If the archer currently has claimed Australia Stars they can now claim FITA Stars. This will be in force in time for the 2010 National Championships in Brisbane. |

Wanneroo Senior High School held a Medieval Fayre on December 5, 2009 (photos on Equipment page) which we were invited to attend for the purpose of demonstrating archery and offering the opportunity to try the sport out. It was an incredibly hot day (34c in the shade), which would have dampened attendance (statistically retailers experience a down turn once the temperature exceeds 32C). The McCormicks led the charge, dressing in period costume, delivering all equipment and setting up. Others who helped set up were Sue Gliddon, Chris and Lynda Binyon, Sylvia and Gavin Pikes, the Townsends, Bruce Titlestad, Ryan, the Reeds and Nola and Lachlan Mitchell. Many thanks to those that attended and who braved the heat. We had a fried Friar Tuck demonstrating long bow archery. Nola, Chris and Sue did the instructing, with Bruce and Sylvia assisting. 300 flyers were distributed. 57 people were recorded as being put through a Come and Try session, average age 19, most common age 13 and about 50% residing in Wanneroo. We were the most visited attraction at the Fayre and have already been invited back for next year's event (date to be advised). |

At the recent FITA Congress in Korea a number of rule changes were supported and all changes except for one will come into force from the 1st April 2010. You will hear more about these other changes in the next few weeks when official advice is received from FITA. The exception is the change to age groups for Junior and Cadets. Commencing from the 1st January 2010 the age for Cadets has been extended to 17 years and for Juniors to 20 years. We understand that the name junior will not apply although there are no indication as to what this division will be called until after the next FITA Council meeting in late November. We have recommended the name 20 and under. All activities and events relating to Cadets and Juniors will as from the 1st January 2010 be conducted to these new age divisions. The 2010 National Youth Championships will be conducted using the new age divisions. At this stage there are no plans to change the age division for Intermediate or Cubs which are Archery Australia age divisions. Records All current Cadet and Junior records will stand the only change will be the extension of ages for people claiming records in line with the rules change. Membership Fees Currently Archery Australia, RGBs and Clubs offer a reduced fee for minors. The fees that are charged by RGBs and Clubs is a decision to be made by each individual RGB and Club. For Archery Australia we will maintain the reduced fee for minors and it will not correspond to shooting divisions. When a minor turns 18 years of age they will be charged full membership fees. This is to say when person pays their fees for a year and they are still a minor at the time of paying fees they will be charged the reduced fee for minors for that year but if they pay their fees after they have turned 18 years of age the pay the full membership fee. Please pass this information onto your members and I also suggest that RGBs and Clubs need to review their membership fees for minors. Regards Jim Larven. |
